She is known for her affecting and ironic self-portraits and is considered one of the most important contemporary European photographers: the FFF is dedicating a comprehensive retrospective to the award-winning Finnish artist Elina Brotherus. Large-format works from various series and videos show Brotherus’ preoccupation with the figure and landscape, her photographic role-playing with model and artist as well as her responsive, sometimes humorous examination of art movements from Romanticism to Fluxus.
Elina Brotherus, born in Helsinki, is considered one of the most important contemporary photo artists in Europe. Her work has been exhibited internationally since 1997, is widely published and can be found in renowned collections.
