The World of Banking and Money

Hardly any other city is as highly involved in the international flow of money as Frankfurt. As the main seat of the Deutsche Bundesbank and the European Central Bank (ECB), and as the home of one of the world's largest stock exchanges, Frankfurt is one of the leading finance centres in Europe. The Geldmuseum (Money Museum) of the Deutsche Bundesbank presents a cross-section of the bank’s collection of historical coins and notes, as well as illustrating the complex interactions of monetary policies. Other museums also dedicate some space to the development of the financial market in general and Frankfurt as a banking centre in particular, such as the Jewish Museum, which provides historical information about the role played by the Jewish moneylenders in the Middle Ages.
