Sport and movement are important elements for an active life together and for peaceful coexistence in civic society. This trend is in evidence in cities everywhere: Public parks and open spaces are being transformed into temporary or permanent places for sports, games, and movement. The exhibition, which started out as open-air stations in public space has now been expanded to present 12 projects already realized in Europe and which innovatively integrate sports activities into the urban environment. They include downtown football pitches and riverside parks designed to enable a variety of diff erent sports through to schoolyards that offer games and sports facilities and, in this way, embrace the surrounding neighborhood. The spectrum of projects realized over the past 15 years ranges from re-designs and repurposing and the integration of new agendas through to minimal interventions in existing settings.
Visitors to the exhibition can discover this for themselves as a sports and fitness playground: a mat area, various calisthenics equipment, a cross-cricket station, and a bowling alley are available for everyone to use for a joint workout.
