With over 3,000 works on around 1,600 m² of floor space the Liebieghaus, located centrally on the banks of the River Main, is one of the most important sculpture museums world-wide.
The diverse collection comprises exceptional sculptures from ancient Egypt to the Classicist era: With art works from the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman periods, the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque and Rococo, Classicism as well as East Asia, it offers a substantiated overview of 5,000 years of sculpture history.
The numerous master pieces in the collection include the marble Athena sculpture (around 450 BCE) sculpted after Myron’s original, and the terracotta altar created by Andrea della Robbia around 1500.
