Founded in 1917, Deutsches Ledermuseum enables visitors to experience the true complexity of leather – one of the oldest materials used by humans – in exhibitions of everyday and luxury items.
The collection of what is an absolutely unique museum world-wide ranges from Coptic shoes, a child carrier of the Comanche, Baroque courtly caskets, Samurai armour, an Inuit parka, Empress Sissi’s silk boots or crocodile leather bags made in Offenbach to sneakers with a sole made of recycled chewing gum.
Visitors are offered a hands-on experience in the project space: Get a feel for diverse leather types ranging from shark to elephant to crocodile leather at the experience stations.
Please view the website for current information and the hygiene measures.
